Phase 3 Cardiac RehabilitationAfter completing the Phase 1 and 2 of the cardiac rehabilitation procedure, a complete medical investigation of the patient is done. These investigations involve tests like, cholesterol level, sugar level, weight, ECG, and fat percentage. Based on these tests, the physician and rehab experts conclude about the state of the patient's heart. If the results are found up to the sample level, the patient is put through Phase 3 cardiac rehabilitation. The individuals who wish to increase their cardiac ability also are advised to get the admission for this Phase.
Phase three of cardiac rehab course is mainly a closely supervised exercise program which aims at making the individuals manage their overall cardiovascular health on their own. Initially the rehabilitation expert explains the flow of Phase 3 and the processes involved. Then a trained exercise person explains different types of exercises to the patient. He chalks out a routine for patients that include specifications like exercises to be done, their duration and frequency. While doing these exercises, the patient is observed by the trainer with the help of different cardiac machines. The patient is provided with immediate medical support if required. Patients and their families are given a special training in the phase 3. The training covers different tips like do's and don'ts, special care to be taken, reacting to emergency situations, giving first aid to a cardiac patient etc. Along with all this, the patient is allowed to interact with other cardiac patients and they are given time to exchange their thoughts and experience which may prove instrumental. The patients are given the freedom to ask their doubts and queries to the cardiac experts. Even small doubts are answered by the experts. Patients are also offered the help of a psychologist if needed in order to boost their morale. In some rehab centers small picnics of Phase 3 patients are arranged for making them feel good. Meanwhile, physician keeps a close eye on the improvement of heart and adjusts the medicines accordingly.
The Phase 3 generally gets completed in 8 - 9 weeks. After the completion of Phase 3, the patient is discharged. Some instructions are given to the patient, which he has to strictly follow in order to avoid another heart trouble. This is called as Phase 4. The phase 4 is a continuous process. A patient may also take help of some of the alternative cardiac rehab therapies to maintain a healthy heart. By completing the cardiac rehabilitation course, a patient can recover from his heart disease and start living normal life. The whole idea of this program is to give self care tips to the patients. This, in turn helps the patient to minimize the risk of recurrence of the heart disease. |
