Northwest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Over a decade old, Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization providing rehabilitative care to injured and orphaned wildlife of Bellingham, Washington. Established in 2000, Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center provides rehabilitative care for sick, orphaned and injured wildlife.


The center is named so as it lies towards north-west corner of Washington State, and is located at the outskirts of Bellingham. This single employee organization runs on the efforts and contributions by enthusiasts who volunteer their services for the noble cause.

Found an animal

It's illegal to keep wildlife unless one has required licenses to do so. Keeping wildlife requires a lot of skill and knowledge, and is not safe for both the animal and keeper. The center provides rehab to orphaned wildlife, it's always advisable to take a sick or injured animal to rehabilitation centers or veterinary doctors and provide immediate treatment. One should always be careful while handling wildlife as they become highly stressed by human contact and can inflict harm to self and others.

Animals at Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center

At the center one gets an opportunity to see following animals:

  • Raccoons (10)
  • Cottontails (4)
  • Caspian tern (1)
  • Killdeer
  • Grey squirrels (4)
  • Opossums (11)
  • Barn owl (1)
  • Lots of baby birds

The count of animals can however vary, depending upon the season.

Working hours

At Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center, working hours depend upon the prevailing season.

  • April :- September-9 am to 6 pm daily
  • October :- March-9 am to 5 pm daily

It is advisable to call before bringing any animal to the center as it's not open to the public. Also it will help in keeping the required provisions ready in advance to deliver prompt care.

Donations

Any financial assistance in form of donations is tax deductible. These proceedings are utilized towards buying necessary items like food, medicines and housing supplies for wildlife care.

Membership

Various membership levels are there for those who consistently follow our yearly newsletter "Call of the Wild" and give donations.

  • Bobcat Buddies:- $100 - $249
  • Opossum Protectors:-$50 - $ 99
  • Squirrel Scouts:- $25
Wish List

The center continuously needs various supplies for smooth functioning. Wish List is an updated list of these items constantly required. Anyone who would like to give a more befitting donation can always check the list before donating.

Volunteer

One can even opt to become a volunteer at Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center, and help the needy animals by giving their time and service.

Animal care volunteer

Animal care volunteers are especially required at center from April to September to deliver professional rehabilitative services in a minimal impact environment.

Internships (April to October only)

Northwest wildlife rehabilitation center offers opportunities for Wildlife Care Internship to those who are dedicated for the cause. Being a nonprofit organization, internships are unpaid and only accommodation is provided.
