'Polytrauma' is the medical condition involving failure of multiple body systems due to injuries sustained in a single incident. Since then many inpatient rehabilitation centers for veterans have started developing poly trauma rehabilitation centers as an additional service offered. These poly trauma rehabilitation centers are also helpful in providing treatment facilities to civilians severely injured in terminal accidents. A fifth Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center is scheduled to open in spring of 2011 within the premises of Audie L.Murphy Memorial Hospital, San Antonio, Texas. These centers provide acute rehabilitation programs and services for resident patients. They also provide counseling and referral services for other members in the healthcare system. Polytrauma Rehabilitation Network Sites Once the patient has recovered from acute rehabilitation, he or she still needs intermediary rehabilitation services for complete recovery and reintegration with the community. The network site serves as coordinator between Polytrauma rehabilitation Centers and Support Clinics in helping patient find effective case management services. It also ensures that all services are provided in the same environment in which a veteran has lived all along his life. Polytrauma Support Clinic system It consists of different rehabilitation services providers which offer post rehabilitation follow-up services. They work in collaboration with Polytrauma rehabilitation Centers and network sites to maintain continuity of treatment.
