The physical therapy provided by Heartland specializes in identification and treatments of problems of joints, bones, muscles and nerves that move them. The therapists involved in the physical therapy perform the evaluations and tests, which provide information about joint flexibility, motion, endurance, strength of the muscular skeletal system, fluency of movement and postural deviation relating to a patient's functional ability.

The methods included in the treatment are: exercise, massage, stretches, neuromuscular facilitation, cervical or pelvic traction, hydrotherapy, electrical stimulation, and various therapeutic heat and cold treatments.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists helps the people in achieving full function by using their knowledge of human body functions, components of activity to increase a patient's productive activity and effects of illness and injury.

The therapists direct the patients to participate in selected tasks, and help them to enhance their performance, diminish or correct pathology, restore function, and promote and maintain health.

Speech Therapy

For a normal happy life, safe decision-making and communication are the necessary things. Language, speech, voice or cognitive disorders may affect independence, personal relationship, learning, and emotional well-being.

With the language, speech or voice problems, an individual is unable to produce correct sounds or understand and express thoughts. Stroke or head injury may develop some cognitive impairment that may affect memory and judgment of an individual for making safe decisions.

Dehydration, malnutrition, weight loss or other medical complications such as aspiration pneumonia may occur because of impaired swallowing and chewing. Swallowing disorders frequently occur after brain injury such as a stroke.

Women's Health Programs

The Heartland physical therapists, which are specialized in the women's health program, will help the patients in managing their health related issues such as osteoporosis, painful menstruation, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic weakness, and pregnancy discomfort.
