Inpatient Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is a process in which a person is helped to recover from an illness or addiction in order to start a normal life once again. This healing process is a great support to the patient as well as his or her family. Rehabilitation is done with the help of medication, counseling, exercises, and therapies. The patients are given the right kind of care and support that they require for fast and steady recovery. There are two types of rehabilitation. They are:

Inpatient Rehabilitation facility

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation: In this type of rehabilitation, the patient is admitted in the center and given the treatment.
  • Outpatient Rehabilitation: In this rehabilitation facility, the patient stays at home but comes to the center/ hospital for the program to get treatment. He or she may be required to come daily, twice a week, on week ends, etc. as per the recommendation of the doctor.

In inpatient rehabilitation, the patient is admitted to the center or hospital which organizes the rehabilitation program. This program has residential requirements which help in speedy recovery under the guidance of doctors, physiotherapists, counselors, and psychologists. The emotional support and the physical care that the patients need can be given to the maximum in this sort of facility. The patients themselves observe the change in them after admission in the program.

If this service is attached to the hospital, then the best thing about it is that immediate medical care can be provided if there is an emergency. The site of such centers is at peaceful, silent and natural locations. This helps the patients to have a relaxed and stress free life, away from the crowded and polluted urban scenarios. This atmosphere gives a healing touch to the patients. Their agony and pain vanishes as their mind gets rejuvenated when the patients are taught meditation. Their muscles regain strength due to exercises done regularly. This is a beginning of a new life for these patients and/or addicts.

The patients have to religiously follow a strict schedule at the rehabilitation facility. They have a fixed routine for the entire day. Medical treatment followed by physical exercises and therapy, a session with the counselor, etc. are part of their daily activities. They have to accept all the rules and regulations as that will help in their recovery at a better pace. No contact with the outside world will give them time for self examination. They have to make full use of this chance to regain strength in their muscles, body fitness and stress-free mind.

In case of alcoholics or addicts, an added advantage of inpatient rehabilitation, is that the patients who do not have a supportive family environment are removed from such environment, and get treatment at a safe place. They also get round the clock care that is quite holistic. These addicts can share their experiences with people who have recovered.

The main disadvantage of these rehabs is that they are quite expensive. The patients have to leave their family and work to get treatment. In some cases, the treatment may start at inpatient and then may continue as outpatients. Before you hurry up and get yourself or your family member admitted into a rehab center, it is very important to have some information on rehab centers in your area and find the best possible center.

This facility can provide relief to people who have faced acute physical pain due to an accident, cardiac arrest, etc. The patients who have gone through trauma like major fire, bomb blast and natural calamities like earthquake, floods, etc. can really benefit from this program. As the program helps people to maintain a positive attitude and gives them an opportunity to start life on a new pitch. This inpatient rehabilitation is ideal for the people who require support and want to recover soon.
