United Rehabilitation Services

"United rehabilitation services" is a non profit organization. It is commonly known as URS. Originally, the organization was founded with the name "United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Dayton" in the year 1940 with the collective efforts of many residents. However, the main credit of establishment goes to Mrs. Marge Bristow. Marge Bristow who is an active socialist in the society. It was then called as the UCP. The UCP was then reestablished in 1956 with the name "United rehabilitation services". Since then for more than 55 years the organization has been the ray of hope for the Dayton County. In the course of time, many small public related organizations have merged with the URS such as; "Hearing and Speech Center of Greater Dayton" which was merged in the year 1994.

The organization was created to provide help to poor families and orphan children in the area limited to greater Dayton. However, the organization has spread to such an extent that today they serve 11 Counties around Dayton. They were previously focused on the rehabilitation related to cerebral palsy, mental retardation and communication disorders. The organization now offers different services like vocational training, community employment, adult latch key, adult daycare, home-based personal care and senior daycare etc. They also provide different rehabilitation services such as physical therapy, aquatic therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cardiac rehab and hearing disability rehab. Till date the organization has helped more than 250000 people across the counties and the number is increasing day by day! It also offers aquatic rehab as the best option for those who want to get complete recovery from illness or injury.

The organization raised over 5 million dollars for the cause! The organization works on the reference basis i.e. many health rehab provider organizations and centers are attached to the URS and the patients which approach the organization are referred to the appropriate rehab centers. The URS also provides the facility of rehab funding. If a financially poor patient is in search of a sponsor for his rehabilitation, he may approach the URS. Either the URS funds for his rehab fee partially or it recommends the person to an institute which may provide the help.
